The course consists of:

10 modules for students (1 x 1.5 hours and 9 x 40 minutes)

Optional module for parents (1 x 1.5 hours)

 

 

MODULE 1: Introductory presentation

Duration: 1.5 hours

Key learning outcomes 

Gain a broad understanding of how split second poor decisions can have  life changing consequences

 Identify and discuss harm minimisation strategies

Understand the background behind each of the harm minimisation catch cries.

 

MODULE  2: Crossing the line

Duration: 40 minutes

Key learning outcomes

Know the legal definition of rape

Understand the strategies to reduce the chance of sexual assault occurring

Appreciate trust and respect for others

 

MODULE 3: The drinks are on me                         

Duration: 40 minutes

Key learning outcomes

Recognise the myths of sexual assault

Understand effects of sexual assault

How you can make a difference

 

MODULE 4: Down the road

Duration: 40 minutes

Key learning outcomes

Recognise the major causes of motor vehicle accidents

Identify government initiatives aimed at reducing motor vehicle accidents

Appreciate the passenger’s role in preventing motor vehicle accidents

 

MODULE 5: Got ur back bro

Duration: 40 minutes

Key learning outcomes

Understand the law in relation to assaults

Identify strategies to avoid violence including learning to read the warning signs

 

MODULES 6 & 7: The gambler            

Duration: 2 sessions of 40 minutes each, one for preparation and one for group presentation.

Key learning outcomes

Understand the law in relation to the possession and use of illicit drugs and relevant penalties.

Understand the health risks of using illicit drugs

Appreciate the consequences of being charged and found guilty of an illicit drug offence

 

MODULE 8: Mobiles, texts, YouTube, Facebook – Even more ways to get into trouble                                                            

Duration: 40 minutes

Key learning outcomes

Understand the law in relation to the use of mobile phones and the internet.

Understand the consequences of distributing information that is untrue

 

MODULE 9:  Party time                                

Duration:  40 Minutes                                      

Key learning outcomes

Revision of teaching points from previous modules

Understand the law in relation to hosting private parties

 

MODULE 10:  Our problem – Our solution

Duration: 40 minutes

Key learning outcomes

Apply the knowledge acquired over the last ten modules to develop a strategy to make a difference in the local and wider community.

 

MODULE 11:  Party time   – Parents’ presentation

Duration:   1.5 hours

Key learning outcomes

Understand the law in relation to hosting underage parties.

Understand the risks of hosting an underage party

Appreciate risk minimisation strategies for hosting parties

Promote solidarity between parents, teachers and stakeholders when dealing with issues facing youth
